Personal background
Blogging background & experiences
After my 6th bicycle trip last April (Slovenia) my living conditions changed radically and suddenly I had a lot of spare time; what shall I do now I asked myself. I had earlier written in Finnish the travel stories of our cycling trips and had a lot of photos available. Why don´t I make a blog - its much more descriptive than plain text, I reasoned.
Fortunately I started blogging with Google`s free blogger, which is to my experience the simplest and most practical tool for beginners (requires Gmail-account). I has nice templates and colours, is quite easy to learn and maintain. But it has one severe minus and that is "view my profile"-counter, which counts also your own clicks. If you don`t deduct your own clicks from the readings, you might end up thinking that you are more popular than you actually are.

I was lucky to be born in Finland (Helsinki), one of the wealthy Nordic countries, where I am still living. As you may have noticed from my texts, English is not my mother-tongue, but fortunately these blogging programs have inbuilt dictionaries, so hopefully I´ll get my message clear. Furthermore I am using online English-Finnish-English dictionary (http://efe.scape.net/index.php).
As you can see, I like traveling around seeing new places and meeting new people. Maybe I was just born in the wrong country-perhaps Italy or something like that would have the right one for me.
Being endowed with a reasonably amount of wit and with the help of the excellent Finnish education system, I managed to enroll to the Helsinki School of Economics and graduated a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration. My first longtime employment was already during my university studies as an accountant in a bookkeeping agency, where I worked for five years. I have always liked to go my own paths and take shortcuts in my life. So, when the opportunity came I traveled to work in Saudi Arabia, where I stayed totally 4,5 years in two occasions.
In between I worked also one year in Libya and later on I had the chance to study and work 6 months in China (Tianjin, Shanghai), see on right.

When I started last May, I hardly knew what the word blog meant. I have had a personal computer for ages and being a "take the bull by the horn"-type there was no return and when saw my first blog, I was in the hook.

According to blog-services review the most versatile free blog service provider is WordPress.com. It is also quite easy to learn and use; loses to Blogger in templates and colours, but beats it in super blog statistics; a quote from the stats page ("Just a note:we don't count your own visits to your blog").
Blogger is suitable for maintaining one single blog, but if you want to make several different ones, I would recommend using WordPress.com; you can make one single post (blog) and several pages for that post, which are in fact blogs if you want it so.

This Bravenet.com service I found by accident. Because its more complex structure it takes time to learn, but in the long run I believe it has much to offer. The editing window is big enough; not just a few inches. It has at least one disturbing feature and that is the continuous "upgrade your hosting" exhortations and ads, but I clearly understand, that they are doing this for living and accept that.
